BIRDWATCHING TOURS

Bhutan is a paradise for bird lovers and ornithologists. Over 670 species of birds have been recorded and many more are yet to be discovered. Around 50 species of the known birds are winter migrants. These include ducks, waders, birds of prey, thrushes, finches and buntings.
The partial migrants to Bhutan include cuckoos, swifts, bee-eaters, warblers and flycatchers. The country harbors more than 16 species of vulnerable birds. They are the Pallas’s Fish Eagle, White bellied Heron, Satyr Tragopan, Gray-bellied Tragopan, Ward’s Trogon, Blyth’s King Fisher, Yellow-rumped Honey Guide, Rufous Throated Wren Babbler, Chestnut-breasted Partridge, Blyth’s Trogon, Wood Snipe, Dark-rumped Swift, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Gray-crowned Prinia and the Beautiful Nuthatch all of which breed in Bhutan.
Bhutan is home to many species of birds that are in danger of extinction, including the Imperial Heron, which is one of the fifty rarest birds in the world and the rare Black-Necked Crane, which breeds in Tibet and then migrates over the Himalayas to Bhutan during the winter months. The Cranes can be spotted in Phobjikha Valley in Western Bhutan, Bumthang in Central Bhutan and in Bumdeling in Eastern Bhutan. They migrate to these winter roosting sites in the months of September and October and fly back to Tibet between February and March.

Take out a week and come explore by bike the mysterious and mystical country that is Bhutan. Cycling in Bhutan is one of the most challenging yet rewarding experience one can have. Your journey will take you through high mountain passes, down steep ravines and valleys along the beautiful twisting and turn roads that lead u there. The thrill of biking under the shadows of the mighty Himalayan mountains is an adventure that beckons every biker. Along with your journey, you will be visiting many mythical temples, ancient towns and majestic Dzong that will take you to a different realm. In this tour, you are going to explore 4 western districts in Bhutan.and its easy cycling from on district to another. And all the cycling will be on road and all the roads are blacktopped. But there is road extension work in between Thimphu and Punakha. So the road conditions are not so good as of now but by end of 2016, the work will be completed. Traffic is not so high between most of the road, except between Paro and Thimphu, but here the road is a double lane. This 9-day tour encompasses the easier end of cycling in the Himalayas. Of course, our support vehicle is on hand at all times in case you need a lift up a hill.

EVENTS FOR BYCLING :
7 SEPTEMBER 2020 FOR BOTH THE EVENTS.
> TOUR OF THE DRAGEN 1 DAY STARTS FROM BUMTHANG ENDS IN THIMPHU (268 KM)

Tour of the Dragon is not a road bike race or a classic mountain bike race, nor is it a gravel grinder, because it doesn’t fit into any of the categories defined by the International Cycling Union. Since the distance of the race is 200+ km, we would categorize it as an ultra-marathon mountain bike race on roads that happen to be extremely challenging.

Our of the Dragon starts in Bumthang (Saturday, September 7th, 2020, 2:00 AM,) and travels 268 km over 4 mountain passes before finishing in Thimphu town square. It’s one of the toughest one-day mountain bike races in the world. (Download Brocure)

DRAGON'S FURY : STARTS FROM MISINA AND ENDS IN THIMPHU (60 KM ) RACE

Dragon’s Fury Race was inaugurated in 2015 to celebrate the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty, the 4th Druk Gyalpo
